The big strength is clarity. One True Rewards dollar equals one NZ dollar, so members always know what their balance is worth. Depending on the card, they earn 1 True Rewards dollar for every $100 or $150 spent. Spending them is just as easy. At partner stores, members swipe their True Rewards card much like an EFTPOS card, choose credit, key in their PIN and redeem on the spot, and they can top up with another payment method if the balance falls short. The online store is open around the clock with products, vouchers and eGift cards, plus a Deal of the Week, and some partner deals earn double True Rewards dollars. Travellers can use them with House of Travel and Mix & Match, on any airline. True Rewards dollars can also go into an ASB KiwiSaver Scheme account, even someone else's, be gifted to another member, or be donated to charities such as Youthline, KidsCan and Hato Hone St John. The Koha Store, opened in 2023, lets members buy items for charity partners. Dollars expire in the fifth year after they are earned, the oldest are used first, and ASB sends a reminder before any run out.
